We’ve heard from Daughter and they arrived safely and are resting after the long trip. We were relieved when we heard they had arrived.
I’ve survived two days of meetings here in Austin. They were good meetings and we (the research team) accomplished a lot of coordination, refinement, and planning for the summer. We’ll meet again in a couple of weeks to present some interim results and plan tasks for the rest of the summer.
Wife and I will head home in the morning. We finished up late enough that we decided that we would stay the night and head home fresh. That will give us a chance to catch some of the wildflowers as well. That’s a treat we’ve not had opportunity to really explore.
I visited Precision Camera and bought a Nikkor 28-70mm/2.8 zoom lens they had on consignment. I want to have all Nikon glass for my new system. That’s a fast lens and has the quiet Silent Wave motor for auto-focus that has caught my attention. I’m planning on snagging an 80-200mm/2.8 AF-S zoom from ebay too. That will round out my collection of zoom lenses.
I’m planning on using zoom lenses for making images of people. I’ll probably wind up buying a number of prime lenses as well for other kinds of work, particularly still subjects that can stand my moving around to frame them. Prime lenses are absolutely the best as far as optics are concerned and I’m all about optics when I don’t need the speed of a zoom lens.
