Ever had a day like this? I mean, either so totally blitzed that there’s no moving around, or, so totally laid back that you don’t care? This goose must have had a bad night!
I sit here searching for words and don’t really have a theme for the day. Yesterday was the first day of spring break. I spent most of the day dealing with things that just needed to be done. The computer that lost a drive is now functioning again and so are the mailing lists serviced by that machine. My daughter had a flat so I changed a tire. My older son had a doctor’s appointment so I ferried him over there. The wind blew dust all over the place. (cough cough) I searched for a switch to replace a sick one in my Ibanez PH-99 phaser but no joy. I’ll have to rob one from another effect and replace the defective switch in the phaser. Then I’ll order a few spares to keep in my service kit. I changed strings on my electric guitar. (The acoustic will get a new set on Thursday in preparation for the Friday night gig.)
The good part came last night. Work-in-Progress did a full rehearsal for the last time before our debut Friday night. We have a few problems still, but it’s time to go play. I think we need some feedback and an objective so that we can feel like a goal was accomplished — to put some of the music before our friends and families. It’s a shame to work so hard and not do something with it.
Sunday morning Cindy needed an some music for one of the slots we try to fill. So, WiP volunteered and we did Turn, Turn, Turn, one of our favorite covers. We were a little fast, but pretty tight and it was just fun. It was also good reinforcement for us as we prepare for Friday.
My neice is visiting from Missouri, where she lives and goes to school. She’ll graduate from college this semester and go on to the rest of her life. She and my daughter have always been really tight and it’s been fun seeing them together again. We’ll all go to lunch together today before she boards a plane and heads back home. Then it will be time for me to get back to work. I still have a couple of proposals to get written and out this week.
Well, the morning wears on and I have some things to attend to this morning. I’d better get to it.
