I love new toys. I’ve spent the last couple of days working on configuring a new Toshiba notebook computer I bought for my travels. I’ll be out for about three weeks this summer and need something to use to keep up with my students, edit their theses, and manage my email.
A bonus is that it has a socket for a smartmedia card, so I can download images directly from my digicam and edit them on the road.
I’ll be headed for Austin on Sunday for a set of meetings next week. I’ll be riding the bike (yahoo!) and the weather has been really fine the last few days. I’ll be working with my co-investigators and attending a TxDOT research management meeting. Later I’ll be taking my family to Missouri for a visit with my wife’s folks. Then I’ll be in San Antonio for a couple of days for another meeting.
The notebook will get a lot of service this summer. It will serve as a basis for writing reports as well. I have a literature review to get done before the first week of June.
Tomorrow we’re going to the Slaton Air Show. I went last year and took many photographs. I’m really excited about seeing the old birds that will be on display. I really like airplanes. We’ll probably stop at one of the parks in Slaton and bring some lunch. The weather is supposed to be really fine. It will be a good weekend.
