9th Ward Pickin' Parlor

9th Ward Pickin' ParlorA few days ago I mentioned we were going to pick up a copy of Shawn Mullins’ most recent offering. We went hunting last Tuesday night, but could not find a copy of the recording. At the fourth store we finally found a copy. We bought it and brought it home.

I’ve listened to the recording maybe six or eight times now. This is another recording that ages well. There are some good songs here. I especially like Beautiful Wreck, Homemade Wine, Find Love, and the cover of The House of the Rising Sun. The remaining songs are good too, but those are the pick of the lot.

If you like Shawn Mullins, you will not be disappointed by this recording. He’s now on tour promoting the record. I wish he’d get close enough to hear. That would be fun.

  1. ”...promoting the record”! Would that be vinyl? Oh my how we have shown our age ;-)

  2. Yes I have—and I still have vinyl records that are playable. I just need to purchase a stylus for my deck.
