Made It!

I’m back at my Nevada home. Not Home, for I left that behind yesterday morning. But home, where I live, waiting for my family to catch up with me.

The trip wasn’t bad. It was good to spend a week in Lubbock, well at Home, not necessarily Lubbock.

I did my duty. A young man passed his dissertation defense. Another Ph.D. will be issued. It will be interesting to see what he does with it.

Now I’m about to head for the rack. I’m just listening to a little music while I sketch some articles to describe my travels over the last ten days. It was good to have the road time. I think, a lot, when I’m on the road. I think it’s a theta-wave condition. There is something about the road that puts me in a reflective mood. In particular, I spent the bulk of this trip in thought.

I don’t know I resolved anything in my thoughts, but I spent a lot of time and energy thinking.

Oh yeah, it’s snowing. It started raining on me as I drove through Carson City this evening. Now it’s snowing. It’s sticking on the back fence and the grass. I’ll bet the street is too warm for it to stick there. We’ll see what things look like in the morning.

Now it’s time to quit and hit the rack. I’m pretty tired. Good night.

  1. I didn’t know it snowed in Nevada!
I also think much when I’m on the road. And traveling in Texas certainly gives one ample opportunities for that. I remember the trips in public buses in my country when I let my thoughts wander. Sorta composing my autobiography though I was just ten or so at the time.

  2. Oh, it snows in Nevada, sometimes a lot! On the way to Lubbock from Douglas County last fall, we crossed Nevada and saw plenty of snow. When we got to Austin, Nevada, it was -10F.

A few weeks ago we had six inches of snow one night. I stayed home the next morning and worked from the house. Once the plows went through, I drove to work.

There’s nothing like driving through Utah, Colorado, and Nevada to give one plenty of things to think about. The geology is fascinating and I never tire of the sights.

Texas is good and I spent plenty of time driving (and riding) there. But this is totally different. Totally.

  3. That’s nice to hear. Someday I’ll make a road trip through these states. I guess it will be a pleasant change.
