Ripped Off

Unexpected SnowOn the second day out from Lubbock, we encountered this snow shower in eastern Arizona near St. John. I noticed it on the radar screen when I checked it at the hotel, but didn’t expect the reality. The white smudges on a television screen didn’t do the snow shower justice. While the heavy truck didn’t feel unstable, slush was collecting on the highway. The spray made a mess of the Bimmer.

Speaking of the Bimmer, Wife noticed a piece of molding missing from the front bumper a couple of days ago. I looked at it Sunday afternoon and noticed the front license plate was missing. Someone wanted that Texas tag bad enough to steal it and the plate holder from the front of the 330i. I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but believe it was after we arrived here in Nevada.

I guess Texas memorabilia of all kinds is worth something — even worth enough to steal.

It’s hard to believe it’s already 15 May. The last few weeks are a blur of activity. There’s been little time to pause and reflect. I had a ton of work to get done, a presentation to make, a move to implement, and now the unpacking and recovering from a week away from the office. I’ve barely had time to come up for air, much less write on my weblog.

In a few more weeks I’ll return Wife and Young Son to Lubbock for Young Son’s summer enrichment program. Wife will oversee some maintenance on the house and it will go up for sale. I’m planning on riding Shadowfax back from Lubbock that trip. There wasn’t room for him in the truck this last trip. I think I’ll stop in Albuquerque and have a full service done on him. Maybe I can add a pair of hyperlites to the rear. I’d like to have more light in front too, but we’ll see. I’m looking forward to that ride.

I’ll move the remainder of our things sometime around 4 July, I think. Older Son and I will probably fly to Lubbock, rent a small(er) truck, load it with the few remaining things, and drive it tag-team back to Nevada. I think we can do the trip in about 24 hours without stopping. We’ll take turns sleeping in the cab. It won’t be easy, but it won’t be that hard.

Then, when Younger Son finishes his summer program, we’ll head to Florida for a meeting. Then I think Wife will fly to Missouri to see her folks.

It sounds like it’s going to be a busy summer. I wonder what I’ll do with my spare time???

  1. Hope you reported that license plate. That happened to us when we were in a movie in Lubbock. Hubby decided to call police and report it “in case” something vile was done using the plates as they were in our name if looked up on DVM records. Who knows these days!
