Reading

I don’t agree with everyone that I read on the ‘net. Even when I don’t agree, I still read what they have to say. I need the other viewpoint to help me understand and refine my own. I might even be persuaded that my position is wrong and change my mind.

One of my favorite reads is Linkmeister. Go read his stuff. Think. Ruminate.

Linkmeister and I don’t always agree. It doesn’t matter because I respect what he has to say. He finds things that are important and comments on them. That’s good for me and good enough for me to read him regularly.

For example, he has an essay on Iraqi WMD’s. When we attacked Iraq, I believed that Iraq held WMD’s. However, we haven’t seen them revealed in the aftermath. This troubles me. If we attacked Iraq on a pretense, then what is the real reason for the war? I think the truth will be revealed as time passes. I’m watching this one.

Thanks, Linkmeister, for making me think.

  1. I hope the truth will be revealed, but I'm not nearly as sure as you are. This Administration likes its secrets too much (see Cheney & energy task force documents).

  2. i used to try to be open-minded, tolerant and fair, too. then i got into a discussion with a bell curve defender and fried my motherboard.

i guess i'm not as flexible as i was when i was younger. it's a sad thing, really. also it's hard for me to get into discussions with people i disagree with, without laughing a lot, which doesn't support my point of view well, and just tends to make them mad.

but clear thinking of ANY stripe is the minority position now, unfortunately, and our liberty depends on it. god, i HOPE you and i disagree on something. otherwise we're just another flavor of the things we say we despise.

    keep up the good work.

  3. I think we (US) has put its foot in the door, and will not stop being the M. East. It has other countries to conquer. All for "democracy"…
