Sweet Corn
Sweet Corn (2008-08-18)

This is another image for Daughter. I'm reminded of many times we pulled field corn from the field as it matured. It was especially fun when we were fishing at the creek. We'd build a small fire, shuck and silk the ears, then rewrap the ears in the shucks with a little butter inside, then bury the shucks in the coals to roast. The shucks would not quite burn and provide the steam to cook the corn. Roasted corn and hot dogs were great, with roasted marshmallows for desert.

The smoke from the fire helped keep down the mosquitos. Fishing for catfish started about dusk. It was good.
