New Digs

After waiting (and waiting) for TextDrive to get my shared host back online, I elected to buy hosting on another site so I have a place to park some words and images.

I will eventually move my old entries to the archives of this site, but I have no idea when I’m going to be able to do that. Just know it’s on my list of things to do. I have old entries through February 2013. I hope TextDrive will recover the remainder of my data. Regardless, I will not be using that service anymore.

So, here we go…

  1. Looks good, and WP is easy enough to tweak to suit your tastes. I imported all my Movable Type entries a year or more ago, and the only trouble I had was telling WP the right character encoding (Western, Unicode, etc.). Because I didn’t pay attention to that question I have had to go back to put hyphens and dashes into old entries where one currently sees question marks (?). Also, because of that sometimes the entries are left single-spaced even between paragraphs.

What I’m saying is, when you get around to importing, be careful and study up a little first. 😉

    1. Thanks, Links. I hate the layout, but I’ll fix it in time. It was probably time to do something different with my look anyway. I’ve sufficiently conversant with CSS and HTML that designing my look isn’t that hard. It just takes time and it was something I didn’t want to spend time on at the moment.

But, at least I have reclaimed my bit of space on the interwebs. I have a place to park words and images other than FB. I won’t publish anything significant (such as my images and reviews) on FB because FB claims to own everything posted there. I’m not OK with that.

I still want my old content. But, fresh starts are sometimes not so bad. What’s in the past is in the past.

    1. Thanks, Rookie! It’s good to have a place to park words and images other than FB. ODM!

      1. I hear ya there. I like FB for some things, but it is not your own, and definitely not a blog 🙂
